2012 ECMA Nominees!
“Versatility” the debut album from the Bb Sisters, Sherryl & Kimberley has been nominated for Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year at the 2012 East Coast Music Awards which will take place in Moncton, NB this April.
“Their impeccable playing ability on fiddles, piano, guitar and banjo infused the folk music of Nova Scotia, Quebec and the Ottawa Valley with a fresh energy and a spirit that engaged the audience, no matter what their age group.” (Lynn Saxburg, Ottawa Citizen)(Ottawa Folk Festival)
“We are very proud to have been selected as a festival partner with “Saltwater”. Our first concert was last night in Colebrook, NH at the Colebrook Country Club. Standing room only and the fans went nuts. This band flat out rocks. A real kitchen party, just the way you like it. Fantastic musicians and a combination of East Coast and French Canadian styles. Just the best imaginable.” (Phill McIntyre, owner of Skye Theatre. Maine)
Wow! That’s all I can say. We had a tremendous response tonight to the Bb Sisters and Skip Holmes and a packed crowd at the Country Club. Our audience absolutely loved them. Best one yet–thanks for sending them our way! July 25, 2011 (Charlie Jordan, director of the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts, Colebrook, New Hampshire.
The Bb Sisters first met in 2002 while teaching at the Tobique Fiddle Camp in New Brunswick. Having spent the week sharing a cabin, we spoke of our present, past and future. We discovered that we had many things in common from musical styles, our involvement in sports from hockey to baseball, our love of the outdoors and our faith. We have become like “Sisters”. Our passion for hearing and writing harmonies has been evolving since 2003. Having attended a music festival one summer and listening to many concerts, we looked at each other and said, “We can do this!” To find out the story behind the name, you will have to come out to one of our shows!
